Trust dreams. Trust your heart, and trust your story.

In the blink of an eye, your entire life can change.

Sometimes, something happens that you have no idea at the time will impact the rest of your life, as was the case with the experience that inspired me to go to my “dream college,” described in my first memoir, And Then It Rained. Sometimes, you know immediately the event will change everything, like with my dad’s death in 2013. Girl Enlightened describes my journey after losing him — the grief, the confusion, and the eventual finding my way.

Whether it’s instantaneous, or a butterfly effect, each type of these experiences share one major theme: lessons. This blog is a reflection on those lessons — demonstrating how each and every event we go through shapes us.
